New Covid Symptom
Today the government have announced a new symptom that is experienced by a number of people with coronavirus - anosmia.
Anosmia is the complete loss of your sense of smell and/or taste. It has now been included along with persistent cough, and temprerature above 37.8 degrees as suggesting you may have coronavirus.
As such, if you experience a loss of taste and or smell (even with no other symptoms) you should:
- self isolate for 7 days
- ensure other members of your household isolate for 14 days
- arrange a coronavirus test (see our coronavirus page for more information on testing)
New Testing Rules
From today, any person aged 5 years and above displaying symptoms of coronavirus can request testing (see our coronavirus page for more information on testing) . Those symptoms are:
- A temperature of 37.8 or higher
- A new persistent cough
- Loss of sense of smell or taste
