Repeat Prescriptions

Please allow 3 full working days for prescriptions to be processed and remember to take weekends and bank holidays into account

There is no need to call the dispensary to confirm whether your prescription is ready to collect, providing you have allowed the full 72 working hours before collection. Managed repeats (Diary Prescriptions) will be ready to collect 28 days after your previous collection.

We do not accept repeat prescription requests over the phone.

Manual Ordering of Repeat Prescriptions

You can drop in your repeat slip at the Practice, there is a post box located at the front of the surgery.

For our dispensing patients we currently operate a managed repeat system (Diary System) at both Hadleigh and Boxford for regular repeats.  If you would like more information, please speak to one of the dispensers.

Dispensing

The dispensing of medication is governed by the National Health Service (Pharmaceutical and Local Pharmaceutical Services) Regulations 2013. This allows GP practices to dispense to patients under very strict criteria. Practices may only dispense to patients who:

  • Live in a controlled locality (an area which has been determined as rural in character.)
  • Live at a distance of more than 1.6 km as the crow flies from any pharmacy.
  • Live in an area that is deemed to be a reserved location (i.e. – when permission for the practice pharmacy was applied for, the area population was less than 2,750.)

Please do allow 72 working hours for your prescription to be processed by the practice prescription clerks.

Medication Reviews

Patients on repeat medication will be asked to see a doctor, nurse practitioner, clinical pharmacist or practice nurse at least once a year to review your regular medications. We will contact you to schedule an appointment, please ensure you attend to avoid unnecessary delays to further prescriptions.
